This can be anything from Effects you want to extend over multiple clips or a Motion Graphic that does not need text, an example could be a logo sting!

Effects are a range of anything that is best used on a single clip at a time. It can be as simple as a mask preset for your webcam, to really advanced visual overlays giving stats about what is on the screen.
